Artful Internet Blogs

Now that we have the internet and blogs, we have a whole new genre of art. It is the artful idea for the internet. This came to mind recently when my daughter told me about her husband, comedian Alex Koll, being photographed in a neighborhood grocery store, who was then asked to sign the polaroid. Having fans, so I'm told, takes a whole new perspective on life, both good and bad. Turns out Alex was "portroided."

Okay, that's where the artful blog gimmick comes in. Portroids is as cool as postsecrets, the innovative site that allows people to tell their deepest, darkest secrets online to millions of people, if not cooler.

Here's the irony, I went to the site and found thousands of celebrities, many of whom I had never heard of, because let's face it, I'm not a star hound. I read the faq page which is pretty interesting, but no where on the site could I discover the identity of the artful blogger. So I went to Wikipedia, nothing there as well. I did find on My Space, the identity of a 37 year old male, but nothing more.

So... interesting. I would love to hear from anyone that has knowledge of who the "Portroid" guy is. He's been at this for 7 years now.--Ruth Mitchell

I only just came across this blog entry from a few months ago. Thank you for your kind words about my project.

It was fun running into Alex and your daughter at the store. They were both very nice.

As to who I am, my name is Rick DeMint. I guess I don't normally put my name at the forefront of my portroids because it is more about the people in them and the overall project as its own entity.

As you discovered, my main page is http://www.portroids.com/main.htm , but I can also be found at http://twitter.com/portroids and http://portroids.tumblr.com and http://www.flickr.com/photos/portroids/

Thanks again,
