There's aN app for That

March 30, 2010 Inseperaple from the start we sometimes call Lucky Man and Chili Pepper the dynamic duo or, Batman and Robin. Lucky Man has always thought we brought Chili Pepper into our home as a pet for him, and "Pepper" has always looked up to and adored Lucky Man. Now our household faces the dissolution of the dynamic duo, as Lucky Man faces the challenges of a 14-year-old dog with lymphoma.

(Heavy heart)....there is hope and information to share though as we face this.  Lucky Man has shown incredible courage through his ordeals as a victim of a purposless human being who tried to shoot and kill him.

That was four years ago, and through it all he has taught us much about life through his determination and will to overcome what fate has dealt him. Now as we face this new challenge, at his age and disability, we are not interested in prolonging his life, or allowing him to experience any more pain.

With that said, there is hope!  We were given several options by the vet, one of which was chemo therapy...no guarantees, and lots of misery involved.  We opted for another solution, which is administering Prednisone, a common steriod, to him. We were told this would revitalize him for a few weeks, and then he would decline.  Well, we are on our third week, of a "couple of weeks," and Lucky Man is doing very well.  This has diminished our dispair about the inevitable, but more importantly, Lucky Man and Chili Pepper have been running through the woods, and taking lots of naps together as they experience the countdown on what has been a truly wonderful partnership.

If you have an older dog, and your are told they have this particular type of cancer, ask your vet about treatment with Prednisone.  It has given us a wonderful few weeks, with optimism for more!
